1. ABOUT JOURNEYS BY BREADFAST
Journeys by Breadfast is an online hotel booking service operated by Breadfast. We help travellers discover, compare, and book hotels around the world.
These Terms govern your use of the Journeys by Breadfast website and any booking you make through it. By using the website or making a booking, you agree to these Terms and to the specific policies shown on each hotel listing during checkout.
We're always reachable at [email protected]. If you have any requests or issues before, during, or after your stay, contact us and a member of our team will respond within 24 hours.
2. ABOUT THESE TERMS
These Terms apply to bookings made through the Journeys by Breadfast website. Bookings arranged through our customer support team on other channels (WhatsApp, phone, chat, or the Breadfast app) may be routed through alternative suppliers and are governed by separate arrangements agreed with you at the time.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The Terms in force at the time you make a booking are the ones that apply to that booking.
These Terms are provided in English and Arabic. In the event of any conflict or ambiguity between the two versions, the English text prevails.
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
3. HOW OUR BOOKING SERVICE WORKS
Journeys curates hotel inventory and provides you with the tools to search, compare, and book. The stay itself is delivered by the hotel, and the reservation is processed through a booking supplier who acts as our travel technology and inventory partner.
This means Journeys is your customer-facing point of contact for everything to do with your booking - support, changes, cancellations, and post-stay follow-up - while the hotel remains responsible for the accommodation, its condition, and the services provided on the property. Where we need to raise something with the hotel on your behalf, we do so through our booking supplier.
The identity of our booking supplier and the legal role it plays are disclosed in Section 17.
4. ELIGIBILITY AND YOUR ACCOUNT
When you book, you confirm that you have the authority to make the booking on behalf of every guest in your party, that they have agreed to be bound by these Terms, and that you are responsible for informing us of any special needs, accessibility requirements, or age-specific considerations for any guest.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide during booking - traveller names, contact details, dates, and payment information. Incorrect information can lead to check-in refusals, extra charges, or a lost booking.
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login details private. We assume that anyone using your account has your authority to do so.
5. MAKING A BOOKING
When you book a hotel through Journeys, you are entering into a reservation for the room, dates, and price shown on the confirmation screen. The hotel's cancellation policy, house rules, age restrictions, deposit requirements, board arrangements, and any other conditions shown during checkout (the "Rules and Restrictions") are part of your booking and are as binding on you as these Terms.
After you complete payment, we send you a confirmation email and a booking voucher. The voucher, together with your passport, is what you present at the hotel on arrival.
Some hotels issue a Hotel Confirmation Number (HCN) that confirms your booking has been loaded into their system. Where an HCN has been issued, we can share it with you before check-in upon request. Where no HCN is available, your booking is still valid - your passport and voucher are all the hotel needs to check you in. If a hotel is unable to locate your booking on arrival, contact us immediately (see Section 12) and we will resolve it directly with the property.
We may cancel bookings that reflect obvious pricing or content errors - for example, a luxury suite mistakenly listed at USD 1. Where we do, we refund you in full and you may rebook at the correct price, or offer a comparable alternative where available.
6. PRICES, TAXES, AND CURRENCY
Prices shown on the website include the total cost of the booking as described on the checkout page. Where any local taxes, tourism levies, resort fees, or facility charges are payable directly to the hotel on check-in, we do our best to flag them on the booking page - but the amounts and rules are set by the hotel and the local authority, not by us.
Prices are displayed in the currency you have selected. Depending on the hotel and our partner hotel supplier, the charge that appears on your card statement is typically processed in US dollars and may be converted by your bank at their prevailing rate. Your bank may also apply foreign-currency or cross-border transaction fees. Any difference between the displayed price and the amount that appears on your statement due to bank conversion or fees is between you and your bank.
Prices can change at any time until you complete your booking. Once your booking is confirmed and paid, the price for that booking is fixed unless you or the hotel change the reservation.
7. PAYMENT
Payment is taken in full at the time of booking through a secure payment provider. We use industry-standard encryption and, where required by your bank, 3-D Secure authentication.
If your bank declines the payment, your booking will not be confirmed. Repeated declines may result in your session being blocked as a fraud-prevention measure. If your card is declined but the amount appears reserved on your statement, this is a temporary authorisation hold - it typically releases within 24 to 72 hours depending on your bank.
If a payment is disputed after a valid booking has been completed, we may share your booking details, IP address, and correspondence with your card issuer to verify the transaction. Where we have reason to believe a dispute has been raised in error or in bad faith, we may withhold future service until the matter is resolved.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and other major card networks. Some cards issued in Egypt have limits on international or online transactions - if your card is declined, checking your bank's online-transaction settings is usually the first step.
8. CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS BY YOU
Whether and how you can cancel depends on the Rules and Restrictions shown when you booked. Some bookings are fully refundable up to a deadline, others are non-refundable from the moment of booking, and some sit in between. Your booking page always shows the exact deadline in Cairo time.
To cancel, sign in and use the "Manage your bookings" page on the website. If you can't reach that page, email us at [email protected] from the address you used to book, and we'll cancel on your behalf.
We do not process amendments to confirmed bookings. If you need to change dates, room type, board type, or hotel, the simplest path is to cancel your existing booking (if it is still within its refund window) and make a new one at the current price. If your booking is outside its refund window, it can neither be changed nor refunded, except in the limited circumstances described in Section 9.
Where a refund is due, we process it to your original payment method within 10 to 15 working days. The exact time to appear on your statement depends on your bank.
If you do not arrive at the hotel and did not cancel your booking in advance ("no-show"), the booking is treated as a cancellation made with less than 24 hours' notice - typically resulting in no refund.
9. CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS BY THE HOTEL OR BY US
Hotels occasionally cannot honour a confirmed booking - for example, if the property is overbooked, closed for maintenance, or affected by circumstances outside its control.
Where this happens, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to secure an equivalent-or-better alternative at the original hotel or a nearby property of the same or higher rating, at no additional cost to you. Where an alternative cannot be secured, we will refund the booking in full.
We are not responsible for changes or cancellations caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control - including natural disasters, severe weather, epidemics, government action, industrial action, war, civil unrest, and terrorism ("Force Majeure Events"). Where a Force Majeure Event affects your booking, we will do our best to help but cannot guarantee a refund from the hotel or the supplier.
10. CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS
At check-in, the hotel will typically ask you to present the passport of the lead traveller. The name on the passport must match the name shown on the booking voucher. If names don't match, the hotel may refuse check-in - we recommend double-checking the traveller name against the passport at the time of booking.
Hotels may also require a deposit or a card authorisation at check-in for incidentals, as set out in the Rules and Restrictions on the booking page.
Some hotels have age restrictions on the primary guest and on unaccompanied minors. Any such restriction is set by the hotel and is shown on the booking page. Guest capacity limits (number of adults and children per room) are also set by the hotel and cannot be negotiated at the property.
11. SERVICE REQUESTS
Optional requests such as early check-in, late check-out, extra beds, cribs, connecting rooms, floor preference, or bed configuration are passed to the hotel as notes on your reservation. They are not guaranteed. We recommend confirming any request directly with the hotel closer to arrival.
Some requests may be available at an extra cost payable at the property. Where we can find out the cost in advance, we will share it with you before you commit.
12. PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS
If something goes wrong at the hotel - the room isn't what was described, an amenity is missing, service is poor - please raise it with the hotel's front desk manager first. On-property issues are almost always resolved fastest by the person on site who can act on them immediately.
If the hotel does not resolve the issue, or if you are unable to check in for any reason, contact us at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your enquiry within 24 hours, escalate it to the hotel and to our booking supplier on your behalf, and keep you updated until the case is closed.
For urgent situations while you are at the hotel - a refused check-in, an unexpected charge, or any safety concern - call the support number listed on your voucher. We will work with the hotel directly to secure your stay or, if necessary, arrange alternative accommodation under Section 9.
We ask that you raise any complaint while you are still travelling where possible. Complaints raised after return, or without supporting evidence such as photos, receipts, or hotel correspondence, are harder to resolve and may not be accepted.
13. OUR ROLE AND LIMITS OF OUR LIABILITY
Journeys offers the digital tech platform to reserve a booking. The hotel is responsible for the accommodation, its condition, its staff, and everything that happens on the property. Our booking supplier is responsible for processing payments, processing your reservation and managing communication with the hotel's reservation system.
Subject to that we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for losses caused by third parties (including the hotel), for events outside our reasonable control (see Section 9), for injury, illness, or death not caused by our own negligence, or for property loss or damage on the hotel premises.
You are encouraged to arrange travel insurance covering cancellation, medical expenses, and property loss - none of which are included in your booking with us.
14. PASSPORT, VISA, HEALTH, AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
It is your responsibility to hold a valid passport, all required visas and travel documents, and to comply with any health, vaccination, or entry requirements that apply to your trip. Requirements change frequently and are set by governments, not by us. We recommend checking your destination's requirements shortly before you travel.
We are not responsible if you cannot travel or are refused entry because you did not comply with passport, visa, or health requirements.
15. HOW WE COMMUNICATE WITH YOU
We may contact you about your booking by email, SMS, WhatsApp, or phone, using the details you provided at booking. This includes confirmations, check-in reminders, changes, disruption notices, and post-stay communication. These messages are essential to your booking and we send them regardless of any marketing preferences.
For marketing and promotional messages, we contact you only where you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by emailing [email protected].
Please keep your contact details up to date on your account, or notify us at [email protected] if they change after booking. We are not responsible if you miss a time-sensitive booking update because we could not reach you at the contact details you provided.
16. CONTENT, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, PROHIBITED USE, AND FRAUD
The Journeys by Breadfast website, our brand marks, our logos, and the layout, design, and organisation of the content are our property or the property of our licensors. Hotel content - photographs, descriptions, amenities lists - is provided by the hotels or by our booking supplier and remains their property.
You may use the website only for lawful purposes, and only to research and book stays for yourself and people you are authorised to represent. You may not copy, scrape, or systematically extract content from the website; resell, resublicense, or attempt to profit from bookings made through the website; make bookings in false names or using payment methods you are not authorised to use; interfere with the operation of the website or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it; or use the website in a way that could damage, disable, or overburden our systems.
If we suspect fraudulent or unlawful activity connected to a booking or a payment method, we may cancel affected bookings without notice, refuse to process future bookings from that account or payment method, share information with law enforcement or with card issuers where required, and pursue recovery of any amounts owed to us.
We use analytics and data tools to help operate the website - for example, to personalise search results, help you find suitable hotels, and improve reliability. These tools do not make final decisions about your booking. If you have questions about how a specific feature works, contact us at [email protected].
17. GOVERNING LAW, DISPUTES, AND LEGAL INFORMATION
Legal information. The reservation processing behind your booking is handled by Nuitée Travel Limited, a company registered in Ireland with registered office at 4 Waterloo Rd, Ballsbridge, Dublin, D04 A0X3, Ireland. Nuitée acts as our booking supplier, as the merchant of record for card charges (the transaction descriptor on your card statement may reference Nuitée), and as a data processor for booking data. Nuitée's supplier obligations to Journeys are governed by its own agreement with us and by the laws applicable to it; those obligations run to us, not directly to you, and are separate from the customer contract set out in these Terms.
If you have a complaint, please raise it with us first at [email protected]. We will do our best to resolve it before it becomes a formal dispute.
